2009-2010 DISTRICT MEMBERSHIP CONTEST
What is your Lions Club doing in your community? What is there that needs to be done?
Lions are important to each of our communities and the less fortunate that we serve. You are very important to your Lions Club. Membership is the life blood of our Association. We know our quest to gain membership has been difficult--but we cannot move forward; we cannot accomplish all the service that needs our efforts if we do not increase our membership.
How would another set of hands make your pancake dinner, broom sale, or rodeo an even bigger event? What would your Lions year be life if you have more fresh ideas from new members about fundraisers and/or service projects?
Stop and consider this fact: our 100% District charitable contributions are all based on membership. Increasing our membership will help benefit the charities we support, such as Texas Lions Camp and others.
The District Governor's membership team is leading the way. We have put together a membership contest that will be fun, exciting, and most importantly, help us to grow our membership. This contest will be conducted at both the CLUB and INDIVIDUAL levels.
CLUB LEVEL:
The winner of the CLUB LEVEL membership will be determined based upon the number of new members as a percentage of clubs membership as of the new Lions year, beginning in July and ending with the final MMR for the Governor's Contest. Patches similar to the Governor's Contest and Activities Contest will be given to each of the three top clubs in the three categories.
At the Second Cabinet Meeting, Midwinter Conference, and the District Convention, the presidents of the top club in each of the three categories will get to pick from the door prizes prior to the start of the Tail Twister drawings. The top club will be based upon the MMR immediately prior to the Second Cabinet Meeting, Midwinter Conference, and the final MMR of the Governor's Contest.
WINNERS -- SECOND CABINET MEETING
Category 1: Plainview Lions Club Category 2: Littlefield Early Risers Lions Club Category 3: Roby Lions Club
In addition, the clubs will also receive points in the District Governor's Contest as follows:
* 3,000 bonus points for the first place club in each of the three categories as of the MMR immediately prior to the Second Cabinet Meeting, the Midwinter Conference, and the final MMR of the Governor's Contest.
* 2,000 bonus points for the second place clubs.
* 1,000 bonus points for the third place clubs.
* 5,000 bonus points (one time) for having an overall membership gain of 5% for the Lions year through the final MMR of the Governor's Contest.
INDIVIDUAL LEVEL:
The two individuals who bring in the most new members into Lionism by the final MMR of the Governor's Contest will win:
FIRST PRIZE: Dinner at the Red Carpet Restaurant in Lubbock, movie passes, gift cards to the Main Event, One night accomodation at a Lubbock hotel, a VISA gift card, and breakfast at the Cracker Barrel.
SECOND PRIZE: Gift certificates to Casa Ole, Red Lobster, Logan's, and Orlando's.
Every Lion and every Lions Club must work to boost membership. Not only does our livelihood as an Association depend upon it--but so does the humanitarian service that needs to be performed in our respective communities.
This contest will allow us to have some fun while doing what is so important to our clubs and Lionism as a whole!
Let's MOVE TO GROW OUR MEMBERSHIP!!!
